Want to row for Chinook?

Our Team

At the start of each year we invite a roster of returning athletes to row with Chinook based on performance, attitude, commitment and planned regattas. The composition of the invited team is based on the number and types of rowers we need to successfully compete at specific events while still offering a quality experience for each rower.

We select new athletes each year based on performance, skill level, cultural fit with the team, and their ability to make Chinook their priority at major events. Regarding this last criterion, we do not want to be considered a “rolodex” crew and we find that athletes also racing with their home clubs at regattas cannot make the commitment we require as a true team.

Expectations

We expect all athletes to commit to a training plan, to continuously improve his or her rowing skills, race in excellent health and fitness, be willing to blend with a boat, commit to the seat and the boat assigned, assist teammates at regatta, pay dues and fees on time, and demonstrate superior sportsmanship toward your teammates, officials and other teams.

In turn, our athletes will race competitively in current, well-maintained shells and oars with experienced coxswains and committed teammates, receive multiple racing opportunities as permitted by each regatta, and have access to individual and team coaching at camps. Additionally, all regatta logistics will be well organized and communicated to you clearly.
